Please allow yourselves extra time to find parking and seating at the church venue. Arrival time is 10:30am. There is limited street parking in the surrounding streets. Please note that we will be having an unplugged ceremony; please do not use your digital phones for photos. 

11:00 AM

Ceremony begins

Canadian Memorial United Church

Our ceremony will start promptly at 11:00 AM.

We will start our time together with worship and scriptural readings.

This will be followed by the wedding ceremony officiated by Pastor William Easson. We understand that we will have family and friends from different religious backgrounds joining us for our wedding and will do our best to provide context while honouring our faith. Of note, lyrics for worship can be found in your wedding programs which will be at the entry of the church.

Group photos

Canadian Memorial United Church

Following the ceremony, we will have coffee and refreshments served outside the church while group photos are taken. We ask that you please stay until we have had a chance to take a photo with you!

3:30 PM

Guest arrival

HMCS Discovery Naval Base

We ask that you kindly make your way to our reception venue where you will be met with entertainment and a selection of hors d'oeuvres while enjoying the scenery at the HMCS Discovery Naval Base. Please ensure you are on base in advance of 4:30pm - you do not want to miss the grand entrance!

Cocktail hour begins! This is your time to relax and enjoy an incredible evening of celebration! 

DRESS CODE

Please note that the dress code for our ceremony is formal or DEUs and the dress code for reception is black tie or mess kit.

 

You are welcome to wear your black tie outfit to ceremony if you are not in a position of convenience to change outfits on the day of the event.  

These are the colours in the wedding palette for your reference. Feel free to wear something in these colours (not the white/cream though!)  if you are stuck on what to wear!

DETAILS

WILL THERE BE PARKING?

Ceremony: there is limited street parking available around 15th and Burrard Street. Please arrive early to ensure you find a spot before 10:30am.

Reception: there is parking on site at HMCS Discovery. You are also able to leave cars overnight in the lot for pick up the next day to ensure a safe journey home after the party.

Carpooling and ride sharing are encouraged!

WHAT DO I NEED TO REMEMBER TO BRING?

Reception: you MUST bring government issued ID for access to HMCS Discovery. A guest list for those who are attending reception have been provided to the Officers on base. There are no substitutions or additions of guests allowed. Please allow yourselves extra time to enter the base should there be a line up of people waiting to be checked in. 

WHAT IS THE DRESS CODE?

Ceremony: formal attire or DEUs

Reception: black-tie or messkit 

IS THERE AN OPEN BAR?

PREGNANT OR BREASTFEEDING?

Yes. Please come prepared!

There will be non-alcoholic drinks as well as areas of refuge for you throughout the ceremony and reception. Just identify yourselves to the lovely wedding day assistants at the venue and they will find a quiet space for you.

POV CAMERA

We have prepared a digital "disposable" camera for all of our guests! This allows us to capture all of the memories of the day and to keep them forever! Although our ceremony is "device-free", we encourage you to use this special camera after ceremony, during cocktail, reception, and on the dance floor! Scan the QR code below to upload up to 25 photos during our event and 25 photos from your camera roll after the event. All photos will be released to all guests June 30th at noon so you can see how everyone spent their day!
